Blog Tour: Fake Date by Monica Murphy

I’m so honored to be part of the Blog Tour for Fake Date by Monica Murphy! I loved the first book in this series, Save the Date, and I couldn’t WAIT to get my hands on Fake Date! Lucky for you, you don’t have to wait either because it came out on TUESDAY! More about Fake Date:

Working at Bliss Lingerie, Sarah Harrison deals with all sorts of—interesting clientele. Yet no one sparks her interest more than Jared Gaines, the ultra-rich, ultra-sexy businessman who frequents her shop, buying delicate little “gifts” for the women in his life.

But one day, Jared sends her a gift from Bliss. Then another—and another. So when Sarah walks into his office demanding to know why he can’t stop sending her gifts, he makes her an offer she somehow can’t refuse: be his fake girlfriend for the weekend while attending his brother’s engagement party.

Next thing Sarah knows, she’s in San Francisco, pretending to be in love with Jared. Not that it’s a hardship. Once you get the man away from the office, he’s much more relaxed. Sweet. Funny. Even…thoughtful? Oh, and sexier than ever, of course.

Their pretend relationship feels very real, very quickly. Soon Sarah’s in over her head. Could what she and Jared share turn into something real? Or is it all actually…fake?

So why did I love Fake Date (and why do I think you’ll love it too)?! Well because…

I am trash for enemies to lovers. And many other romance tropes.

If you’ve been following me on Bookstagram for any amount of time, you know my number one romance trope is enemies to lovers. Seriously, if it’s sold to me as enemies to lovers, I’ll pick it up on that basis alone.

While Fake Date doesn’t exactly use enemies to lovers in the book, it definitely employs similar characteristics in that the characters don’t exactly seem into each other at first glance…or rather try to resist the urge to be together. Also fake dating is high up on my favorite tropes chart and rarely do I see it as expertly employed by an author than I do by Monica Murphy (see also her previous title Save the Date).

It’s full of hilarious one-liners and bits.

I live and breathe romantic comedies, and Fake Date legit had me in stitches while I was reading it! If you pick it up, you’ll get some sweet gems like this:

No awkward oh gee, do we have to share a bed moments, like I always see in those fake relationship movies on the Hallmark Channel. No wait, more like on the Lifetime Channel.

The characters are so stinking swoon-worthy.

Honestly, I think it would be impossible not to fall in love with the characters in Fake Date. From Jared and Sarah, to Candice and Sarah’s siblings, the characters in this book are both fun and fully-developed. If you enjoyed Save the Date, you also get a sneak peek into some of the lives of your favorite characters from that book too! Seriously though, I want to be friends with all of the people in this book and I just want to hug Monica Murphy for sharing them with us!

All in all, Fake Date is a great pick for those who love fake dating stories, romantic comedies, and especially fans of Christina Lauren’s The Unhoneymooners! You can get it at any of these retailers NOW:

And don’t forget to pick up the next book in the series, Holidate, on October 15th!

Until next time!
